Privacy policy
Android version 1.2.3 and earlier do not include the optional online installation check described below. Their puzzle progress, story records and preferences remain local as described in this policy.
Lantern Trails is a puzzle game developed by Saad Playworks. This policy explains local game information, the Android app's online security check and information you may choose to send to support.
Information saved on your device
The game saves completed levels, stars, best move counts, story-read records, unlocked lantern styles, options, daily-puzzle results and interrupted puzzle state so you can continue playing. These records are not sent to our verification service. The daily puzzle uses your device's date.
All seven narrated story films are bundled with the game. Android may copy a bundled film into the app's cache for playback; films are not downloaded from an online video service. Gameplay does not request your name, email, location, camera, microphone or contacts.
The game has no cloud synchronisation. Your operating system or backup provider may independently back up and restore app data according to your device settings.
Android installation security check
The app does not request an Integrity check when it starts, resumes or sits in the background. In About and privacy, a short disclosure explains the information and providers involved before the Check app button. Tapping that button requests the online check. You can leave this feature unused and play the whole game.
The check asks whether Google Play recognises the app and its licence, and whether the device meets the requested integrity standard. It helps identify altered or unrecognised installations. If the service is temporarily unavailable, you may request one manual retry in that app session after at least 30 seconds or a longer server-requested wait. There is no automatic retry or polling. Checking does not unlock puzzles, change earned rewards or delete progress. The displayed status is held in memory; we do not save a consent preference, Integrity status or token with your game data.
Google Play Integrity processes request-binding information, app package/version/signing information, Play licence status and device-attestation information. Google's Play Store also operates under its own terms. Our app requests the standard app, licence and device verdicts; optional environment and other enhanced verdicts are not enabled. Google's handling is described in its Play Integrity data safety information and Privacy Policy.
Our verification service is hosted on Cloudflare. The app obtains a fresh random challenge, requests a protected Google Integrity token, then sends that token and challenge reference over HTTPS to our service. Our service sends the token to Google for verification, checks the response and returns a short status. It does not receive your Google account name or email, your puzzle moves, progress, story choices or support messages. We do not use the check to create a player profile, follow a device across sessions or personalise advertising.
Security information and retention
- Integrity tokens and decoded results: our service processes these in memory for the current request. Application code does not write them to its database, logs or an analytics service.
- Random challenge records: the service stores a random one-time reference, its binding hash, issue/expiry times and a used flag to reject reuse. A challenge expires after two minutes. Expired records are deleted during later requests or scheduled cleanup, normally within about three minutes of issuance; service outages or delayed cleanup can extend this. These records contain no player account or persistent device identifier.
- Aggregate limits: four service-wide counters limit challenge and verification requests by minute and day. They contain no player identifiers. Counters are overwritten when their next time window is used and may remain while the service is idle.
Deleting an active challenge record does not immediately remove provider recovery copies. Cloudflare documents SQLite database recovery covering the previous 30 days. Only the limited records described above enter that database; Integrity tokens and verdicts do not.
We disable application request logging and Workers observability and do not record IP addresses or user-agent headers in our application database. Cloudflare still receives your IP address and connection information and derives network metadata that can include an estimated country, region or city. This is an estimate from the internet connection, not GPS access. Our game and verification code do not read or store these geographic fields. Cloudflare documents this incoming-request metadata as part of its hosting service.
Cloudflare processes network identifiers, estimated location and technical connection/service information to deliver, operate and protect its network, including processing under its own Privacy Policy. It may retain network and security information separately from our short-lived challenge records. Disabling our logs does not disable all provider processing. Google also applies its own retention to Integrity processing; clearing the game's storage does not delete the providers' records.
Analytics, advertising and service providers
The game has no advertising SDK, billing or gameplay analytics. Unity Analytics and Unity crash reporting remain disabled. We do not sell information or send local gameplay records to advertisers or data brokers. Google receives app/device security information for the installation check. Cloudflare hosts our verification processing and also handles network information for its own network operation and security as described above. The services may process information outside your country.
Your choices and deleting information
Request deletion: email saadaliofficial8@gmail.com with the subject “Lantern Trails privacy request” and describe the support message or other record you want removed. Do not send a password or identity document. We will respond about records we can identify, remove eligible support records, and explain any necessary retention. Verification tokens are not stored by our application; random challenge records and provider records follow the retention and provider procedures described above. We cannot identify an individual player from our aggregate counters or remotely remove their device saves.
The online security check is optional. To avoid it, do not press Check app. Opening or resuming the game and opening About do not initiate a check. Leaving the disclosure, pressing Back or continuing gameplay is not treated as a request to check. Every new app session starts without a saved permission to check automatically.
You can change game options in Options. Clearing Android app storage or uninstalling removes local progress, journal and preferences, subject to device backups. Starting a new game replaces an unfinished puzzle while retaining earned stars, unlocks, story-read records and options; it does not erase all data. Manage backup copies through your device or backup provider.
There is no game account to delete. We cannot remotely retrieve local saves. Short-lived security records expire as described above and are not indexed by a player identity. You can contact us about privacy, access, correction or deletion; we will explain what information we can identify and address, including support correspondence. Provider-controlled records are also subject to the providers' own procedures.
When you contact us
If you email support, we receive your address and the message or attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond and investigate the issue through our email provider. Please avoid passwords, payment details or other unnecessary sensitive information. We retain support correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to address the request, maintain necessary records or meet legal obligations. You can request deletion using the address below.
Children's privacy
Lantern Trails is designed for a mixed audience aged six and older. No age, profile, chat, player Google sign-in or account registration is required. Children can use every puzzle and story feature offline without a security check. If the optional Check app feature is chosen, the technical security and provider network processing described above also applies when a child uses it. We use the check for app security, not advertising, behavioural profiles or tracking a child across sessions. A parent or guardian can contact us with a privacy question or to request deletion of information a child sent to support.
Security and changes
Network security checks use encrypted connections. Local backup files help recover interrupted saves; keep your device protected. No storage or communication method is completely secure. We will update this policy and its effective date when our practices change.
